How to explore
the Orchard of Flavours ?

Our unique botanical garden dedicated to perennial edible plants of warm climates and to climate change is open for visits, either Self-guided or on a Private Tour.

Spend a couple of hours in a beautiful orchard close to the Atlantic Ocean and to the historical town of Tavira. Relax at our Kiwano bar, where you are welcome to picnic, walk freely in the garden and learn about all the incredible number of fruit trees that can be grown in Southern Europe 🍌 🌿 🐆

Book a Self-guided Tour:

  • take your time, exploring at your own pace

  • discover 70 magical fruit trees of warmer climates and 3 types of Food Forests

  • learn as you go, by help of the Self-guided Visit Map, the QR codes under each tree, and more

  • choose your date and time, from Wednesday to Saturday, starting from 10 AM or from 2 PM

  • if you are coming as a group of 2 or more, please adjust the ‘Quantity’ field when booking your tour (before choosing the visit date, immediately below ‘SHOW ALL’ / ‘SHOW LESS’)

  • suggested donation per person: 5 EUR (free for Members of the Orchard — discount code : FRUITLOVER100)

In case of rain, please be aware that the garden will be closed. We recommend checking the weather forecast for Tavira before your visit. If rain or a storm are expected, please refrain from coming or give us a call.

#2 Book a Private Guided Tour

  • spend 2 hours with Miguel Cotton, the Orchard’s founder

  • be inspired by the stories, facts and curiosities behind the creation and evolution of the Orchard of Flavours

  • get an in-depth perspective of the approaches and techniques applied at this agroecology project

  • come any day of the week, depending on availability

  • suggested donation: 90 EUR (total for 1 to 6 persons) and 15 EUR per person for a group of 7 to 20 pers.

What you will learn:

  • discover the incredible variety of fruit trees that are suitable to our climate here in Southern Europe (including the miracle moringa tree, the forgotten banana varieties, the different guavas, the most fragrant citrus, the edible succulents, ...)

  • explore the main agroecology practices and see how they look and function at the Orchard of Flavours: from mulching, to composting, to the benefits of the Banana Circle approach, water harvesting and water saving techniques through micro-irrigation, …
